The auricles receive the sound; and relay it to inner portions of ear. Where, with the help of sound receptors the nerve signals are generated and transferred to brain for the hearing sensation. From catching the sound till the hearing sensation, this whole process takes place in pathways; pathway through ear and the pathway in CNS.
