It multiplies the scalar with the elements in pivot row 3 and adds the result to the first row. The pivot row should not change. Example: Consider a 3 × 3 matrix. [ A] = [ 1 0 2 5 3 1 2 3 4 ] Perform the row operation *Row+ ( 2 , [ A], 3, 1 ) . Multiply the third row by 2 and add the result with target row 1. The resultant matrix is, [ A] = [ 5 6 10 5 3 1 2 3 4 ] Calculation: The matrix given is, [ C ] = [ 1 6 − 3 4 1 0 1 7 3 0 0 3 4 0 − 2 0 − 2 3 1 0 ] We need to obtain the zeros above and below 1 in the second column. The element in row 1 and column 2, element in row 3 and column 2 and element in row 4 and column 2 need to be changed to zero. To obtain 0 in row 1 and column 2, multiply the row 2 of a matrix [B] by a scalar - 6 and add the corresponding entries to row 1.
