[ A] = [ 1 0 2 5 3 1 2 3 4 ] Perform the row operation *Row+ ( 2 , [ A], 3, 1 ) . Multiply the third row by 2 and add the result with target row 1. The resultant matrix is, [ A] = [ 5 6 10 5 3 1 2 3 4 ] Calculation: The matrix given is, [ D ] = [ 1 5 3 2 2 3 − 1 4 3 2 1 0 ] We need to obtain the zeros under 1 in the first column. The element in row 1 and column 1 is 1. The element in row 2 and column 1 and element in row 3 and column 1 is non zero. The element in row 2 and column 1 and element in row 3 and column 1 need to be changed to zero. To obtain 0 in second row and first column: To obtain 0 in second row and first column of the matrix, multiply the first row by − 2 and add the corresponding entries to the entries in row 2.
