Summary Introduction
Telomerase is an enzyme that adds a sequence of telomere to the chromosomal ends. Eukaryotic cells and the somatic cells contains low concentrations of this enzyme. These enzymes are not used regularly in eukaryotes and therefore, aging resulting in reduction of chromosome length. High concentrations of this enzyme are present in stem cells, cancer cells and germline cells.
