The process of radioactive dating is to be described.
Concept Introduction:
Different methods for radioactive dating can be used to estimate the age of natural and man-made materials. Radioactive nuclides are unstable. These nuclides move to more stable nuclides. The process by which unstable radioactive nuclides lose their energy by radiation to form stable nuclides is called radioactive decay. The time required for a quantity of radioactive sample to fall to the half of the initial value by radioactive decay is called the half-life.
