Introduction: In the given case, a physiologist performed two experiments. In one experiment, a section of arteriole was placed in a saline chamber, and the oxygen content of the saline chamber was reduced. In the second experiment, an isolated slice of the smooth muscle of arteriole was stripped away from the rest of the layers of the arteriolar wall.
