Introduction
In the United States, there is a huge debate about immigration- both legal and illegal. One prominently contested issue is the illegal immigration of people from South American countries through the southern border.
Explanation of Solution
Suggested response
Consider the discussions surrounding immigration in the United States. One example is the mass immigration of illegal immigrants that arrived in the United States in the 1990s through the present looking for work after their countries struggled from the implementation of free trade agreements. One current issue that continues is the question of what to do about the millions of young people who were brought into the United States illegally with their parents, yet they had no control over their migration. This group is referred to as “Dreamers.” They grew up in the United States and do not know the nation of their birth. Consider what options there are as these children grew up into adults who may have gone to college, got married and raised a family, bought homes, work, and pay their taxes, yet they are not legal and live with the possibility of deportation.
