Explanation of Solution
Sleep is a restorative and active multi-phase process. It offers restorative functions and encourages memory consolidation. Sleep can be defined as temporary and the natural absence of consciousness. The person can be aroused from sleep by normal stimulation. During sleep, the cortical activities are slowed down but their functions continue in the vital centers in the brainstem. Decreased activity of body during sleep results in the renewal of strength, increased growth, and conservation of energy.
