Answer to Problem 1CYE

Various factors such as public transport, compact buildings, and recycled products and so on can make per capita energy use low in urban areas.

Explanation of Solution

In urban areas many people live and have requirements for food, water, hospitals, schools, childcare and entertainment within a certain area. Millions of population lives in the cities at present. The well-organized cities enhance cultural resources and store resources for more benefits.

Various factors and ways are helpful for the low consumption of energy by each person living in urban areas. The cost of using energy per person is lower in comparison to suburban and rural people. Use of low energy by each person mainly can be seen mainly in the wealthy countries.

The various factors that can make per capita energy use low in urban areas are as follows:

  • Public transit in high-population areas that uses less space, energy and materials in comparison to private travel.
  • Compact buildings can increase the land use efficiency.
  • Green space creates physical and emotional benefits for people living in cities.
  • Recycling programs is the easiest method when the transportation is minimal or tough.
  • Green infrastructures are new methods to make people benefitted by green lands and surfaces.
  • Energy efficiency such as solar energy, district heating and other efficiency can be easier strategies of alternative energy.
  • Farmland conservation is a method which is a developed and fastest way for a developing country.

Radioactivity has provided a reliable means for calculating the numerical (absolute) age of rocks, a procedure called radiometric dating. Radioactive isotopes, such as uranium-238, emit particles from their nuclei that we call radiation. Ultimately, the process of decay…
