Chapter 15, Problem 15.85QP
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The chemical equilibrium expression (Qc) should be discussed and calculated given the different system and its diagrams.

Concept Introduction:

Basic of chemical equilibrium: The chemical equilibrium happen in phase transition process, consider for some example, if the temperature in a one system containing a mixture of ice and water is uniformly temperature 273.15 K, the net amount of ice formed and the melt will be zero. The amount of liquid water will also remain constant, if no vapor escape from the system. In this case, three phases, ice (solid) water (liquid), and (gas) are in equilibrium with one another. Equilibrium conditions also exist between solid phase and vapor phases. These are phase equilibria.

Chemical equilibrium reaction: The term applied to reversible chemical reactions. It is the point at which the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction. The equilibrium is achieved; the concentrations of reactant and products become constant.

The Law of Mass Action: The rate of chemical reaction is directly proportional to the products of activates and different concentration of the reactants. Further this process explained the behaviors of solution in dynamic chemically equilibrium.
