Introduction:
Behavioral therapies are an important approach to help bring abnormal behaviors under control so that the individual can function normally in the society. Cognitive behavioral therapy involves helping an individual to change their ways of thinking.
A cognitive therapist works on the disturbed thinking process and impractical beliefs of an individual, which are the main cause of unusual behavior. This way, the individual can shift focus to more positive things. Disturbances in thought process that lead to negative thoughts in individuals are arbitrary interference, selective thinking, magnification and minimization, overgeneralization, and personalization.
