Concept introduction:
Dermatome is a network of nerves with the nerve endings on the skin layer for sensing the feeling of pain in the body. It helps in the mapping of the neurons to the specific regions in the body. These nerves are damaged during an injection of anesthesia. Dermatome is a specific pattern of distribution of the nerves which supply the stimulus impulse to the skin. The thoracic and cervical nerves supply the different regions on the skin after the transfer of stimulus from the spinal cord.
