It is structurally and functionally divided into two parts, namely the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS). The sympathetic division is also known as the ‘fight-and-flight’ division. This division is mainly responsible for preparing the body for emergency situations.
