Concept explainers
(a) To determine:
The blood group type of the patient, which has caused clumping.
Introduction:
The surface glycoproteins of red blood cells contain antigen A in patients with blood group A, antigen B is present in people with blood group B, antigen AB is present in people with blood group AB, and people with blood group O does not contain any antigen on the surface of the red blood cells. The patient with D blood group has a D surface protein present on the surface of red blood cells.
(b) To determine:
The blood group type received by the individual patient as compared to control sample.
Introduction:
The surface glycoproteins of red blood cells contain antigen A in patients with blood group A, antigen B is present in people with blood group B, antigen AB is present in people with blood group AB, and people with blood group O does not contain any antigen on the surface of the red blood cells.
