Blood makes the entery into the heart via two large veins namely the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava. These veins pour oxygen-poor blood from the body into the right atrium. The vessels pose resistance to the flow of blood. The blood flows at the highest rate within the arteries. The resistance to blood flow varies in different organs hence the cardiac output also differs.
