Nonparametric tests:

When the distribution of population is not known or when the population distribution does not follow the normality, then the non-parametric statistical tests is used to test the population parameters.

Parametric tests:

When the distribution of the population is known or when the population distribution follows the normality, then the parametric statistical tests are used to test the population parameters.

Difference between the nonparametric test and parametric test:

The nonparametric tests are used when the distribution of the population is not known and the parametric tests can be used when the distribution of the population is known.

In the parametric tests in Chapters 8‑10, the conditions for the distribution of the population follows normal and the sample size that is sufficiently large is assumed.

The nonparametric tests are used for testing the median, the relation between the variables, and the randomness along with the Spearman rank correlation coefficient and the parametric tests are used for testing the mean, proportion, and variance.
