The condition on analysis of variance to be more appropriate statistical technique to use than a test between a pair of means.
Answer to Problem 1TP
Explanation of Solution
ANOVA is simply the analysis of variance. It involves testing the difference between two or more groups on one factor or dimension.
The one way ANOVA is used when there is only one independent variable that split the sample of group into two or more parts. The technique is called analysis of variance because the variance due to difference in performance is separated into variance due to difference between individual between group and variance due to difference within groups. The factorial ANOVA there is more than two independent variables that split the sample of group into four or more parts.
ANOVA is appropriate when there is a comparison between two or more means. It is used for a simple test between the means but the groups are independent to each other.
