The standard temperature scales are determined using zeroth law of thermodynamics and to find the temperature of an object, it has to be compared to the scales.

Explanation of Solution

The zeroth law of thermodynamics define that “if two thermodynamic systems are in thermal equilibrium with a third thermodynamic system, then they are in thermal equilibrium with each other”.

The standard temperature scales are determined using this law. The temperature of an object is defined by comparing the temperature of the object to the scales using the law. Thus, if the zeroth law of thermodynamics were violated; it is not possible to define the temperature of an object.
