Problem 6.5
Formulate a linear program for this problem.
1)
A clothing factory can make three shoe types: A,B, and C. Their profits per shoe are, respectively,
$5, $4, and $3. Type A shoes require 4 pieces of leather, and 1 piece of cloth; type B shoes require
3 pieces of leather, and 2 pieces of cloth; type C shoes require 5 pieces of cloth. The factory
has 10,000 pieces of leather and 50,000 pieces of cloth available. Furthermore, the factory must
produce at least 500 units of each type of shoe.
Two models of controlling boards. The 1* type has high
specification for work from the 2nd type. The better type has a profit
of 50$ and the other 40$ per board. The 1st type of boards requiring
five as much as the 2nd needs for production and the total production
are 2000 boards, the first model requires 400 min to be complete and
700 min to the second model. Write this expression with LP
equations to have the maximum profit with production of each
model.

- A manufacturing system consists of 3 machines. Parts arrive following EXPO(5) distribution. Upon arrival, the parts will be send to the shops where they will be processed, each part will be transported individually (assume the parts move by themselves without the need of a resource) and the move time takes UNIF(2, 3) minutes. Once the parts arrive at the shop station the parts are distributed among the machines by selecting the machine with the shortest queue, if there are ties, then the tie breaker is the machine index (Machine 3 is prioritized over machine 2, and 1, and machine 2 is prioritized over machine 1). There is no maximum buffer capacity to be considered. Processing time for each machine is constant and is equal to 7 minutes. All three machines have failure modes; the machines have up times and down time as following: Machine 1 Up Time expo(140) min, Down Time UNIF(S, 10) min, Machine 2 up time EXPO(100) min and down time UNIF(S, 15) + 5 min while for machine 3 up time…arrow_forwardA small block is a fixed, frictionless sphere of radius R with initial velocity starts to slide over.
