To review:

The reasons for the flash light the boxer experiences in his eyes while he is hit on the head.

Given:

A boxer who is an amateur is reported on an online forum stating that he observed lights flash prior to his eyes after being hit on the top of his head. This was unusual for him as he’s normally hit in the ear or chin and he knows what it is like to be brownout at the time of a knockout blow. After the lights fade away, the boxer was able to continue the fight.

Introduction:

Ears play an important role in balancing our body. It requires integration of multiple sensory organs to maintain the balance of the body toward gravity. The sensory organs receive inputs from various receptors, muscles, tendons, and also from inner ears. The inner ear is the structure that takes care of the rotational movement, position, and linear acceleration of the head.
