Chapter 12, Problem 1RQ
Conduction in a liquid depends on the movement of _________________.
Expert Solution & Answer
To determine
The particles on which conduction in a liquid depends upon.
Answer to Problem 1RQ
The conduction in a liquid depends upon the movement of ions.
Explanation of Solution
Unlike a metallic conductor, the conduction in a liquid does not depend on the flow of individual electrons. It depends on a charged atom called an ion.
Atoms with electron deficiency are called positive ions while those with electron surplus are called negative ions.
