The sum of the forces acting on the car and the sum of the forces acting on th descending mass.

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark

Answer to Problem 1EP

The sum of the forces for the car is (μkmcgcosθ+mcgsinθ) and that for the descending mass is m1g.

Explanation of Solution

Draw a diagram to show the components of forces for a car moving in an inclided plane.

        PHYSICS LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS >CUSTOM<, Chapter 12, Problem 1EP

Write the expression for the sum of the force acting on the car.

    F=f+F        (1)

Here, F is the sum of the forces, f is the frictional force and F is the parallel force.

Write the expression for parallel force acting on the car.

    F=mcgsinθ

Here, mc is the mass of the car, g is the acceleration due to gravity and θ is the inclination angle.

Write the expression for the sum of forces acting on the descending mass.

    T=m1g

Here, T is the tension of the string and m1 is the mass of the descending body.

Conclusion:

Substitute mcgsinθ for F in equation (1).

    F=f+mcgsinθ

Thus, the sum of the forces for the car is (f+mcgsinθ) and that for the descending mass is m1g.

Four capacitors are connected as shown in the figure below. (Let C = 12.0 µF.) A circuit consists of four capacitors. It begins at point a before the wire splits in two directions. On the upper split, there is a capacitor C followed by a 3.00 µF capacitor. On the lower split, there is a 6.00 µF capacitor. The two splits reconnect and are followed by a 20.0 µF capacitor, which is then followed by point b.
