Interpretation:
To suggest the treatment for a patient who has been exposed to excessive carbon monoxide. Also, the reason is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
Equilibrium rate is highly affected by a change in temperature, the concentration of reactant and product, and the change in volume.
By a change in the concentration of reactant and products, the equilibrium shifts toward the direction which compensates for the effect.
The effect of change in the volume of a container on equilibrium depends on the side of equilibrium having fewer moles. If there is a decrease in the volume, the equilibrium shifts toward the side of the reaction with fewer moles of gas whereas if there is an increase in the volume, the equilibrium shifts toward the side having larger moles of gas.
