  $A=\frac{1}{2}\times B\times H$

Formula for area of triangle

  $=\frac{1}{2}\times 18\times 12$

Simplify the expression

  $=9\times 12$

  $=108$ square inches.

Now, add the two areas to get the area of the given figure.

  $=a+A$

  $=132+108$

  $=240$ square inches.
