Summary Introduction

Introduction

In small towns and villages, everyone knows everyone else and they value the community because they can all see their efforts to continue it making a difference. Large, urban societies are more anonymous and less supportive of each member in general. An essential quality of an ideal community is empathy for others, or doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. Another quality would be the sense of duty each person feels toward doing their part to maintain community ties.
