You are working in a forensic lab and are given a blood sample from a suspected drunk driver and asked to determine the person's blood alcohol level. The legal limit is 0.08% by mass in most states. You use the following reaction in your determination, assuming only the ethanol (C2H5OH) in the blood sample will react with the dichromate.16H+(aq) + 2Cr2O72−(aq) + C2H5OH(l) 4Cr3+(aq) + 11H2(l) + 2CO2(g)
If 14.6 mL of 0.10 M K2Cr2O7 are needed to react completely with 28 g of blood, what is the blood alcohol level of the driver?
Fresco Painting is a mural painting technique that involves painting with water-based paint directly onto wet plaster so that the paint becomes an integral part of the plaster. The word fresco is an Italian for “fresh”. Fresco painting makes use of chemical reaction that causes color pigment to crystalize within the plaster as it dries. As the plaster dries, carbon dioxide in the air turns the lime to calcium carbonate, crystalizing the pigments. The color then becomes part of the plaster itself.
The process of forming a carbonate is sometimes referred to as “carbonation”, this term usually refers to the process of dissolving carbon dioxide in water. Calcium carbonate and natural pigments make the medium of Fresco the most environmentally safe medium. Only pigments that resist the action of lime can be used. The pigments are usually earth color. Frescoes have been painted for hundreds and hundreds of years.
What is the role of carbon dioxide in air in Fresco Painting? What type of…
What is the precipitate formed from the reaction of permanent hard water with sodium carbonate? Write the balanced chemical reaction involved.

- As part of the analysis of water samples, the hardness of water is commonly measured and calculated. It is commonly expressed in ppm by mass (parts per million) of CaCO3. Parts per million is also equivalent to milligrams of CACO3 per liter of water. In a sample taken by an environmentalist, he was able to observe a hardness count of 205 mg CacO3/L.
