The meaning of the term water table and whether its position remains fixed or not.
Introduction:
The water that precipitates from the atmosphere as rain and snow infiltrates the geosphere and becomes groundwater. The amount of precipitation that is soaked into the ground is influenced by climate, land slope, soil and rock type, and vegetation. The water get down into the ground through the soil and through cracks and pores in the rock by the pull of gravity.
Explanation of Solution
The water table is defined as the level of water inside a well of a saturated zone (all rock openings are filled with water) or a boundary that separates the saturated and unsaturated zones, where the saturated zone is present below the unsaturated zone.
The position of the water table is not fixed because the level drifts when water is either lost into the ground or collected into the well. The rise and fall of water table depend on the water emancipated to that of the water rejuvenated into the well
