Introduction

Teenage mothers should share their experiences in order to provide information to other teens as one aspect of sex education. Shows like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom can be conversation starters for teens and parents who otherwise may not want to discuss the topic. If discussed well, these shows could be part of a healthy sex education and a way for families to connect over such an important subject. A potential drawback, however, is the possibility that the decision to become a teenage parent will be glorified and portrayed as glamorous, when the reality of such life circumstances is often anything but!
