- That is a difficult question to answer but I think somehow, they were expected to believe the stories because it must have been linked to their beliefs or their religion. A lot of the Mayan stories were transmitted orally from one generation to another and the elders were the people who told the stories to their grandchildren. The elders were highly respected and their words were cherished as words of wisdom.
- Corn is the most important crop for the Mayans. It is the base of the food chain. So, it does make sense that the first man was created from corn. In fact, Guatemalans are sometimes called men of corn because corn is an important crop in Guatemalan’s diet.
