Summary Introduction

Introduction

Social exchange theory is founded on the idea that relationships are analogous to a marketplace. Which relationship we buy into is based two primary factors: comparison level and comparison level for alternative. Comparison level refers to our expectations for the current relationship. Comparison level for alternatives describes our perception of whether possibilities for alternative relationships are available.
