Summary Introduction

(a) To determine:The reason for smokers getting a severe cough

The smoke of the cigarettes contains many harmful compounds like the acrolein, benzopyrene and 1,3-butadiene which are extremely harmful for lung cells and human body. These harmful compounds blocks or chokes the spaces of the alveoli as these molecules are of greater size than the pore size of the air sacs of alveoli.

The walls of lungs are lines by the cells of mucosal lining so when the pores of the alveoli gets jammed by the compounds of cigarette then the smoker gets the severe cough. This is why the smokers get a severe cough.

(b) To determine:The reason that non-smokers are less likely to get a chronic cough.
