Interpretation:
The precautions that are observed when sodium carbonate solution is used to extract an organic solution that contains acid traces should be determined.
Concept introduction:
A liquid-liquid extraction process uses two immiscible liquids for extraction. Immiscible liquids are insoluble in each other and form separate layers when placed in same glassware. It is a result of differences in polarities of the two liquids. The process of extraction is performed in a separating funnel.
