Introduction:
The blood is the fluid connective tissue and made up of both the living and non-living components. The living components are called the formed elements of the blood. The formed elements are the living RBCs (red blood cells), WBCs (white blood cells), and the platelets. The non-living component of the blood is the plasma which represents the fluid matrix of the blood. The blood is responsible for the transport of various substances in and out of the body of an organism. The blood transports carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins, and fatty acids. It also transports the respiratory gases and the hormones. Blood also help in the elimination of the waste material like uric acid and urea from the body.
