Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The megaspores, also known as the macrospores, are a kind of spores, which is found in heterosporous plants. These plants include seed plants, water ferns, and spikemosses. These plants have two kinds of spores, that is, microspores and megaspores. Typically, the large spore or megaspore develops into a female gametophyte that produces egg cells.
On the other hand, microspores refer to land plant spores, which germinate into male gametophytes. The male gametophyte further produces sperm cells that are used for fertilization of an egg cell to generate a zygote.
