Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The different membranes are present in the ventral body cavity, which allow organs to move without friction across walls of cavity to carry out their normal essential activity like pumping of heart and churning of food in stomach. The parietal peritoneum is a membrane present in the walls of the abdominopelvic cavity, while the visceral peritoneum contains majority of the organs within that cavity. The parietal pericardium is a membrane layer, which covers the heart. The parietal pleurae line the walls of the thoracic cavity, and the visceral pleurae cover the lungs.
