Explanation There are certain cellular changes due to certain mechanisms in the body, and they are referred as normal adaptations. These are considered as minor alterations and reversible modifications as and when the stimulus is over. However, in certain cases, there are abnormal irreversible changes in cell structure and function. These may form the precursor to tissue damage or development of cancer. These are referred as precancerous cellular changes and are given as follows: 1. Atrophy- It refers to the reduction in the size of cells and forms small tissue mass.
