Introduction: The surgical technologists themselves are responsible for their own safety and health. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and practice knowledge prevent or reduce the exposure to the blood-borne pathogens (BBPs) and also to other potentially infectious materials (OPIMs). These tools are considered important in the professional armamentarium (equipment and material used by a physician) of surgical technologists.
