Introduction

A sociologist should rely on research in order to provide factual and objective bases for seeing the world. The research provides a counter to the subjective way people perceive the world, sometimes supporting, sometimes undercutting interpretations of stimuli. A sociologist should attempt to make objective decisions while considering the perspectives of others. An important way to avoid bias is to employ the scientific method in sociological research.
