Rotation and revolution of the Earth are the two basic types of Earth movements. The rotation of the Earth is in its axis. On its axis, the Earth rotates from the west toward the east. It takes 24 hours to complete one rotation, and it causes the diurnal alternation of light and darkness and thereby influences the local temperature, humidity, and wind movements. The revolution of the Earth occurs around the sun, and the revolution path of Earth is an ellipse. The Earth-Sun distance will vary.
