Summary Introduction

To explain:

The advantages of online test administration of self-report personality inventories.

Introduction:

Self-report personality inventories are tests where a person is asked to respond to a set of statements of human behavior on how true those statements are to him or her. It is possible for self-report assessments to be administered online with the help of the internet and modern technology. Research has also found no significant differences between online administered tests and paper-pencil tests.

For today's discussion, I'd like you to take a look at Burch, Burch & Batchelor (2019), which is one of the assigned readings for the week. They discuss group creative process and personality. It's interesting because we have already engaged with personality and creative process in the context of creativity. I'm curious to see any differences or similarities you see between what we've already learned about individual personality and creative process versus group creativity. You're welcome to use other sources to articulate this. Try to provide original responses!
dq2 Our lesson overview this week does a great job of touching on how diversity impacts group creativity, particularly in film. Findings show that films that embody diverse identities and experiences - and filmed by those with diverse identities and experiences - tend to resonate more with audiences. Part of the point the overview makes is that safety is important so that group members feel empowered to share their points of view, particularly if they tend to be parts of less privileged groups. It makes a tangible difference!  Coursey et al. (2020) touch on the fact that "when people from different political perspectives share ideas ... they can come up with creative solutions in contrast to the prevailing tendency to extremism in intergroup interactions" (p. 261). Their article also discusses many facets of creativity in groups in online asynchronous learning environments just like this one! I encourage you to read it.  Why am I telling you all this? We have lots of information out…
