Define the Heat can be transferred in which three different ways
Heat can be transfer can take place in three different ways as follows:
(a) Conduction: "Conduction is the mode of heat transfer generally found in the solids, due to temperature difference by molecular lattice vibrational energy transfer and also due to free electron transfer." The presence of abundant free electrons in the metals makes them an excellent conductor of electricity.
Conduction can also take place in gases by molecular momentum transfer.
(b) Convection: "It is a mode of heat transfer that generally occurs between a solid and a surrounding fluid due to the bulk motion of the fluid transporting the heat energy." It is of two types: (i) Free convection:- Here the motion of fluid takes place naturally due to buoyancy arising out of density changes of fluid. (ii) Forced convection: Here the motion of the fluid is provided by the external agency like a fan, blower, etc.
