You are required to create a hydraulic device that can transform 20N of input force and to 5 times on the output using similarly-sized syringes with a diameter of 12 mm per syringe and some rubber tubing. Create an illustration highlighting your setup and the number of materials you are using then provide computations to support your design.
Fluid Pressure
The term fluid pressure is coined as, the measurement of the force per unit area of a given surface of a closed container. It is a branch of physics that helps to study the properties of fluid under various conditions of force.
Gauge Pressure
Pressure is the physical force acting per unit area on a body; the applied force is perpendicular to the surface of the object per unit area. The air around us at sea level exerts a pressure (atmospheric pressure) of about 14.7 psi but this doesn’t seem to bother anyone as the bodily fluids are constantly pushing outwards with the same force but if one swims down into the ocean a few feet below the surface one can notice the difference, there is increased pressure on the eardrum, this is due to an increase in hydrostatic pressure.
Provide and illustration to what is asked. USE THE SAME PROCESS ON THE SAMPLE PROBLEM AND DON'T USE SHORCUTS
![Sample Problem
• You are going to decide how
much area is needed on the
output of your hydraulic press
to transform 20 N on the input
into 140 N on the output? The
input side of the hydraulic press
is 0.22 m?.
Solution
• As mentioned from the problem,
the required is the surface area on
the output side of the hydraulic
Pin = Pout
F
since p =
A
press.
Fout
Fin
Aout
• So to acquire the solution, you just
need the equation from Pascal's
principle, expand the equation and
transpose to what is required.
Ain
Fin
Ain × Fout
= Aout
Solution
• Substitute the variables and calculate
Fin = 20 N
Fout = 140 N
Ain = 0.22 × 10-3 m²
Aout =?
Fin
20 N
= Aut
:Aout
Ain x Fout
(0.22 x 10-3m²) x 140 N
Aout = 649.35 m²
• As seen on the results, increasing the output surface area also
increases the output Fforce on a hydraulic device.](/v2/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.bartleby.com%2Fqna-images%2Fquestion%2F48faccbe-b08e-40f8-8b54-741dea17a094%2F3bcd5ebf-d780-40db-b252-20dba899d36a%2Fyj0nqkyw_processed.jpeg&w=3840&q=75)
