You are on a farm that raises cows and chickens. If there are 20 animals total, and the animals have 56 legs in total (assume a standard number of legs for the animals) , how many cows and many chickens are there?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Number of 4 feeted(cows)animals =

                                                       ( L - 2H ) /2

Where , L = number of legs

            H = number of heads

L = 56

H = 20

So,

Cows = ( 56 - 40 )/2 = 16/2 = 8

Chickens = 20-8 = 12
