Equations and Inequations
Equations and inequalities describe the relationship between two mathematical expressions.
Linear Functions
A linear function can just be a constant, or it can be the constant multiplied with the variable like x or y. If the variables are of the form, x2, x1/2 or y2 it is not linear. The exponent over the variables should always be 1.
A. You plant a Ginkgo tree that is already 6 feet tall. You record the trees height at the end of each year and record it in a table. Write a linear equation of the Ginkgo tree and graph.
B. Two years after you plant the Ginkgo tree, you plant an Autumn Blaze Maple seed. This tree grows about 4 feet per year. Write a linear equation for the growth of the Blaze Maple tree and graph.
C. What year will the Ginkgo and Maple trees be the same height and what is that height?
