boundary conditions as shown in Figure Q5(a). The cross-section of the beam is
shown in Figure Q5(b). Given that LAB = 2100 mm, LBC = 2900 mm, Bo=10 mm,
B₁ = 40 mm, and H = 220 mm, ho=160 mm, h₁ =30 mm, determine the following
quantities below:
Notes:
Sign of forces and moments: We define the coordinates below in the question. We
assume (1) the positive direction of a vertical force points downwards; (2) the
positive direction of a horizontal force points to the right; and (3) the positive direction
of a moment is anti-clockwise.
Decimal points: any decimal points are fine (typically 2 decimal points) and all the
numerical questions have a 10% error tolerance.
