Heart – Heart is a major body organ, its size is around equal to human fist, situated in the thoracic cavity. The main function of heart is to pump the blood and deliver the oxygenated blood to the body.

Structure of Heart -  Heart is fist shaped organ,  it has four chambers - two atrium and two ventricles.

As the heart supply oxygenated blood to whole body similarly CORONARY ARTERIES supply fresh blood to heart muscles for its functioning.

There are mainly two coronary arteries Right and left.

Left coronary artery again divided into- Circumflex artery and left anterior descending artery.

Right Coronary artery divided into Right marginal artery and Posterior descending artery.

Collateral Circulation- It is the circulation of blood by small capillaries but not in normal situations, when coronary arteries become smaller or narrowed then the collateral circulation get activated.

Coronary artery disease-  CAD is a type of disease in which there will be narrowing in the coronary artery due to plaque formation in the coronary artery, which may lead to reduced oxygen supply to the heart muscle, and because of that there are chances of myocardial infraction or heart attack.

There are various management modalities which perform to manage the coronary artery disease like - balloon angioplasty, stenting and bypass surgery.
