Expert Solution
Step 1

Photo-voltaic Array:

The PV cell is made of the semiconductor device. It can convert solar energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy is obtained in the form of DC. Since a single PV cell converts only a small amount of electrical energy, some individual PV cells are connected to increase the utility. The series and the parallel connection of a large number of individual PV cells form a photovoltaic module (panel or array). For example, a 12 V is supplied by a module that has 36 PV cells, and a 24 V is supplied by a  module that has 72 PV cells connected in series.

Step 2

The functioning of photovoltaic systems:

The photovoltaic systems work like any other electrical power generating system. The equipment used in photovoltaic systems is different than that used for other generating systems.
