Why is the Inspector required to check the contractor’s equipment?
If the machinery is small or big it doesn't matter; the user must check it before use. Inspections have to be comprehensive and coordinated. Based on the type of machinery, operators will search for: fluid and valve leaks; loose screws, fasteners and straps; faulty brakes; scratched or broken window frames; tire pressure; framework cracks or even other parts; cabin cleanliness; safety belts; back-up warnings ; loose wiring; as well as a fire extinguisher.
While operator's manuals are just the best guide, many do not provide a checklist for assessment. A formal equipment testing to ensure that the operators know what and how to inspect on any particular type of equipment.
