Definition of functions within code is very important, since it makes code easy to write for the user.

We define functions because...

  • They enable us to visualize our plan as a series of smaller steps. 
    (Each sub-step may have a separate purpose. 
    If a program seems too difficult, simply divide it into smaller steps.).
  • Programmers can divide an issue into smaller, more manageable parts, each of which can carry out a specific task, using functions.
  • Instead of building new code, they let us reuse old code.
  • We can test/check  discrete sections (separate parts) of our software independently of the rest because of  functions. 
    This is particularly true when being translated.
