The disruption which causes the economic, human, material and environmental loss is known as disaster. These disruptions when occur due due to natural processes is known as the natural disaster. The floods, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, storms, hurricanes are all part of the natural disaster. It is very important to control the this disaster and mange these disasters. These disaster assessment is very necessary to avoid large amount of disruptions. The severity of damage having effects on public and private sector can be controlled by determining the location and nature of damage and thus assessing the disaster. The emergency services in the initial phase of disaster an be provided earlier with help of disaster assessment. The rescue operations can be carried out accordingly with help of disaster assessment.
The disasters can be assessed by the following steps:-
a) Hazard Assessment:-The topography of the area should be studied and the previous disasters and their intensity should be studied to understand nature of disaster.
b) Vulnerability Assessment:- The risk of the disaster should be assessed and should be prepared accordingly for it. The people and locations which are maximum prone to the disaster should be examined.
c) Capacity Assessment:-The rescue operations and camps should be done to assess the people from the disruption zone. The capacity to be rescued should be assessed.
d) People's Perception of Risk:-The people's idea of risk should be understood for assessing it accordingly.
